The deceased, Aarav alias Viren Chaudhary, suffered fatal injuries on the morning of May 30 while participating in pitch preparation activities ahead of a practice session. According to police, the teenager was pulling a heavy pitch roller along with other children when he became trapped beneath the equipment and sustained fatal injuries.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the children had been instructed by the coaches to carry out the task. Authorities stated that no adult supervisor was present at the site to oversee the activity, and the heavy equipment was being handled by minors without adequate safety measures.
Following the inquiry, the Barshi City Police registered a case under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The case has been filed against two coaches and the cricket associations linked to the summer camp.
Police officials said the decision was taken after investigators found that the children were pulling the heavy roller without supervision and in the absence of necessary safety protocols. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being examined in detail as part of the ongoing investigation.
